A Wingham native, Sharon graduated from the Registered Nursing Assistant Program at Wingham and District Hospital in 1981 and has spent the 45 years since nursing in Wingham, London and Stratford. Her career spans acute hospital and long-term care settings, in both rural and urban communities, with extensive experience supporting people with physical, developmental and mental health challenges. Sharon holds Basic, Advanced and Diabetic Footcare Nursing certificates, Level One and Level Two training in the Art and Science of Burring, and a Footcare Mentorship Certificate from Aldershot Foot Care Clinic, along with training in Onyfix, ToeFX and Sigvaris compression therapy. She attends footcare conferences every year to keep her skills current, and she is passionate about mentoring new foot care nurses. Outside of work, Sharon enjoys gardening, reading, walking, swimming, and time with her family and her dog.
A deep clinical foundation, a mentor's approach — and a region with steady demand for foot care.
The opportunity across Waterloo Region and Guelph
Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and the surrounding communities combine a large urban population with nearby rural towns and farmland, along with a significant senior population and many retirement residences and long-term care homes. For foot care nurses, that means steady demand for clinic visits, home visits and facility work, including from clients managing diabetes, circulation concerns and mobility challenges.
Training with Sharon gives you something you can't get from a textbook: 45 years of bedside judgment applied to foot care. She has worked in acute care and long-term care, in rural and urban settings, and with clients facing physical, developmental and mental health challenges. For nurses who want to build a practice on strong clinical judgment and compassionate care, Sharon's experience and mentoring style are an excellent place to learn.
