Head to Toe Healthcare
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Victoria is the Owner and Director of Care at Head to Toe Healthcare. She knew she wanted to specialise in foot care from the moment she shadowed a foot care nurse during nursing school. After completing her advanced training in 2018, she launched her practice in 2019 — now providing care in homes, long-term care settings, and multiple clinic locations across Halifax. Foot care is personal for Victoria: her husband has lived with Type 1 diabetes since age 13, giving her a deep, lived understanding of diabetic foot health.

Why Train in Halifax

Atlantic Canada has one of the country's oldest populations — and the fewest foot care educators.

The opportunity in Nova Scotia & Atlantic Canada

Nova Scotia has one of the highest proportions of seniors of any Canadian province, and access to specialised foot care across Atlantic Canada has historically lagged behind Ontario and Western Canada. For nurses considering a foot care business in Halifax, the Annapolis Valley, the South Shore, or anywhere in HRM, demand significantly outpaces supply — particularly for diabetic foot care and home-visit services.

Training with Victoria means learning inside a thriving multi-location practice that operates across home, LTC, and clinic settings — exactly the flexible model most successful Atlantic foot care businesses use. You'll graduate with a clear understanding of how to build a practice in a region where demand is real and competition is still relatively limited.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Advanced Foot Care Nurse course in Halifax?
The full program includes online theory completed at your own pace, plus hands-on clinical days with Victoria in Halifax. Most students complete the program within 8–12 weeks, though scheduling is flexible.
Do I need previous foot care experience?
No. The course is designed for nurses (RPN, RN, LPN) who are new to foot care nursing. We start with foundational theory and build from there.
Will I learn home, LTC, and clinic-based foot care?
Yes. Victoria runs a true multi-setting practice — students get exposure to home visits, long-term care facility work, and in-clinic appointments, which is invaluable for building a flexible Atlantic Canadian practice.
What's the demand for foot care nurses in Atlantic Canada?
Very strong. Nova Scotia has one of Canada's oldest populations by percentage, and qualified Advanced Foot Care Nurses are in short supply across HRM, the Valley, and rural areas — making this an excellent region for new nurses to build a practice.
