Certification is earned through recognized U.S. certifying bodies, including the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB), which offers the CFCN credential, and the American Foot Care Nurses Association (AFCNA), which offers the CFCS credential. These pathways typically require a combination of clinical experience, approved education hours, and a passing score on a national exam, plus ongoing continuing education (CE) credits to maintain eligibility. Visit WOCNCB.org and AFCNA.org to confirm current requirements.
